Product Description
8.5 x 11 in. Downloadable Sign to Facilitate Reuse of Unwanted Office Supplies (Box Not Included)
The purpose of this sign is to help Waste Warriors facilitate the reuse of good condition unwanted office supplies and small items, donated by colleagues, that otherwise may have been thrown away. For instance: stray pens/pencils/highlighters, gently used folders, notepads/notebooks with pages torn from them, open packets of sticky notes, and other odds and ends hiding in the back of filing cabinets, storage closets and desk drawers.
Waste Warriors are encouraged to download and print this sign, find a box for collection purposes, set up the Donation Point in a common area where they work, and promote the reuse program to colleagues. When the Donation Box is full, the Waste Warrior should use Campus Mail to ship it to the Surplus Store.
SSRC staff will then review the items and determine what is suitable for resale through the Surplus Store collections. Items deemed unfit for resale may be passed along to the Spartan Upcycle program for creative reuse, placed in the Free Area outside of the Surplus Store, recycled, or landfilled as a last resort. Before the box is shipped out, the Waste Warrior may also encourage colleagues to look through the box and take any items they can use.
Note: For large items you wish to donate to the Surplus Store, please submit a Service Request.
WASTE WARRIOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Waste Warrior is responsible for ensuring the box is maintained and shipped to the MSU Surplus Store via Campus Mail.
- The Waste Warrior should check with colleagues to find a suitable location for the collection box.
- For collection purposes, we suggest repurposing a box that previously held paper reams, as it is the largest size accepted in Campus Mail, yet small enough to keep in an office setting. If you are unable to locate a box for this use, please contact us at recycle@msu.edu and we can find a box for you to repurpose.
- The Waste Warrior should write their name on the sign in the space provided to indicate to colleagues that they are the person who is sponsoring the collection and management of donated office supplies.
